I always comlete my Duolingo lessons every day for almost 900 days in a row now. Recently I took on Italian and learn it combining it with English, Spanish and German, using reverse trees as well if it is possible.
More than 2 hours a day
I started completing my Crown levels in Russian-English as well. Completing my daily dose of Duolingo lessons takes me about two hours a day. I know it is a lot, but it is summer holiday still, as I am a teacher of English with a Hungarian mother tongue. Oh yeah, and also doing Duolingo Stories, all sets complete in Spanish and German! I know, I am king :)
I almost went to sleep, but saw that I almost have 900 XPs. It was 897 actually. I crossed the 900-XP-border, than decided to hit 1000, BOOOM:

Looking forward to Roma and Patwa language courses, I hope they will be availabel soon!

I have just noticed, that it is not the first time I have been over 1000XPs! I just wanted to check how many XPs I needed today to reach 1000, and I could not believe my eyes:

I might set a new goal of always going over 1000 XPs a day! Duolingo for the win! :)
Duolingo Stories came to me as a surprise. I don’t know how I found this amazing new option for my favourite free online language learning application, but I amvery happy I did.
I have been practising Spanish, German and Russian combined with each other and English in all possible way Duolingo made is possible so far. Achieving 3x50 XPs daily with trees and reverse trees in a way to include German, Russian and Spanish is now one of the first things I do every morning (even before walking my dogs) for more than 2.5 years now.
Owls eat mice, but Duo does not eat this cute little mouse! :)
More fun and another positive addiction
Duolingo Stories added more fun and variety to the ’game’. ”Much to learn, I still have” in Spanish, Russian and German, and it was not boring to me at all to do the 150 daily XPs. Stories simply broadened the range of my addictions, ha-ha. I set a goal of doing only one Duolingo Story a day, because it would not be lucky if I neglected my other duties (for example my job, LOL) due to my language-learning mania. I completed slowly but surely the Spanish Stories, then moved on to the German Duolingo Stories ’tree’.
How does Duolingo Stories work?
Stories consists of sets of tales that have tasks in them regarding reading and listening skills.
Choose the correct word!
(I consciously avoid using the word ”competence” here, as for us teachers and students in Hungary there are compulsory tests we have to make kids write, and I speak for all of us, we do not like it, especially because these tests are obligatory.)
We have to complete tasks on vocabulary, finish sentences, fill in the gaps with the right word and so on. The narrator’s and participants’ speech can be played in a slower version as well, just like in the basic Duolingo language courses.
Duo is busy reading, so our little mouse can show us the meaning of words :)
Great graphics and layout
I love the way Duolingo Stories look, as well. We can find the good-old user friendly, colorful drawings we all have got accustomed to. The program also shows us the meaning of words when we hover the mouse over them (or point on it with our fingers on portable devices).

Take care of your eyesight first!
Do yourself and your eyes a favour and learn on the biggest screen possible
First of all, if you still have good eyesight, and want to keep it that way, stop staring at small, or actually bigger smartphone screens. I noticed my eyesight deteriorating when I did an insane daily dose of 330 XPs a day on Duolingo using my Samsung Galaxy S4 mini ( a very small) smartphone. It is best to learn on desktop, but I still bought a bigger, 10.1 inch tablet only for the sake of learning languages with Duolingo. Yes, I know I said use your PC, but for me the app version of Duolingo is better. I like it how the words in the sentences are in front of me and I can click on them to rearrange them in the correct order. So I do not have to hover the mouse over each word I am not familiar with. The app version makes it possible for me to see all the words in a task and as I am a visual type, I can find out the meaning of the word even though it is completely new for me.
So, as a last word on whether I recommend smart devices or PC for Duolingo, I say that if you do not find the app version better, use your computer with that nice big screen to save one of the most precious things in life: your eyesight.
What languages are available?
At the time when I am writing this blog entry, there is no app version of Stories. I prefer using basic Duolingo on my tablet, but Stories work for me better on my computer. I can move on faster by tapping ”Enter” key, for example, and for me the handling of the whole program is all-in-all faster for me on my PC. I also enlarge the screen when I use it either on my tablet or my desktop.

I have completed the Spanish and German Duolingo Stories trees. (I use this phrase here too, though the structure looks less like a tree here.) It is nice to see the sentence at the end with Duo saying:

It also says:

will be great when there will be Stories in Duolingo for more languages. I
would like Russian as well, and in all possible combinations, like the language
trees and the reverse trees.

Kész 2018-as legújabb Duolingo nyelvtanfolyamom, az angol-magyar
Duolingo-n a angol-magyar tanfolyam volt a következő ,,nyelvi-fa”, amelyet 2018 februárjában befejeztem. Hullt a hó (és hózik-zik-zik) és nagyon hideg volt, ezért én azt mondom, nagyszerű tevékenység otthon nyelveket tanulni, amikor az ember nem engedheti meg magának, hogy például snowboardozni és síelni menjen. Lehet helyette kutyátsétáltatni, például. Teli sportok ide vagy oda, azért mondanom sem kell, hogy az otthoni edzés elengedhetetlen, ha formába akarsz kerülni, és jópár kilogrammot leadni, mint én.
Mit jelent a Duolingó angol-magyar ,,nyelvi-fa"?
A ,,nyelvi-fa” elnevezés a tanfolyam szerkezetéből adódik, ami egy kis képzelőerővel egy fára hasonlít. Ezeket be is mutatom a tabletemen a videókban.
Az angol-magyar Duolingo nyelvi-fa valójában egy ,,fordított-fa” számomra. Anyanyelvként az angolt állítottam be, és a magyar nyelvtanfolyamot végeztem el, ami valójában az anyanyelvem.
Duo bagoly gratulál nekem az angol-magyar tanfolyamom végén.
Milyen előnyei vannak a Duolingo fordított-fáknak?
Érdekesnek és hatékonynak találom, hogy a Duolingo-n egy adott nyelven mind a rendes, mind a fordított-fákat végigvigyem. Egyes szavak és mondatok eltérhetnek azoktól, amelyeket az első nyelvtanfolyamon tanultam. A hátsó fák is izgalmasabbá teszik a tanulást, ezért javasolhatom, hogy törekedjen arra, hogy befejezze a Duolingo fordított fákat azokhoz, akik könnyen unatkoznak. Ráadásul a fordított fák szerkezete, a témák és azok sorrendje is sokszor többé-kevésbé eltér a ,,normál” nyelvi-fáétól.
Hatékony a Duolingo-val való nyelvtanulás?
A magyar nyelv nagyon nehéz, sok javaslatot tettem a szövegrend javítására például. Ami a hatékonyságot illeti, úgy gondolom, hogy a Duolingo nagyszerű alapot nyújt a magyar nyelvet újonnan tanulóknak, de a sok ragozás miatt, úgy gondolom, hogy néhány évig bizony gyakorolni kell,
ha valaki folyékonyan akar beszélni. Lehet persze, hogy ennél kevesebb időre lesz szükséged, ha idejössz Magyarországra és egyből ,,beugrasz a mélyvízbe”, ami az idegen nyelvi környezetet jelenti. Lehet, hogy valaki megcáfolja ezt, de úgy gondolom, hogy a spanyol van olyan nehéz, mint a magyar, legalább is nyelvtanilag, amennyire az eddigi tapasztalatomat illeti.
Motivál a Duolingo a nyelvtanulásban?
Igen, engem kifejezetten motivál a Duolingo arra, hogy naponta legalább egy órát eltöltsek vele. (Többet is tanulnék, de ugy ott van a mindenki által jól ismert mókuskerék…)
A Duolingo nyelvtanfolyamait, az egész elrendezését és rendszert nagyon motiválónak és jól megtervezettnek találom. Teljesen felhasználóbarátnak tartom. A fejlődés mérése és a szép grafikák nagyon motiválóak számomra és ezzel az általam megkérdezettek is egyetértenek. Ami mérhető, az javítható és fejleszthető.
Van-e negatív tapasztalatom a Duolingo-val?
Nekem nincs negatív Duolingo-s tapasztalatom, noha néhány mellékhatást érézkeltem magamon. Amikor naponta 330 XP-t csináltam, bagolyfejem nőtt, ha-ha-ha! Ami még rosszabb, a helyzet addig fajult, hogy még bagoly-testem is nőtt, szóval már össze is keverhetnek Duo-bagolyjal, kivéve, hogy ő cukibb, mint én, hah-hah!

Oké, csak viccelek. Nincs semmi negatív tapasztalatom és nem tapasztalt semmilyen mellékhatást sem a Duolingo-val való nyelvtanulás közben, függetlenül a napi adagtól. A Duolingo azonban addiktív lehet, mégpedig pozitív értelemben: nagyon tetszik nekem, és egy napot sem hagynék ki anélkül, hogy csiszolgatnám nyelvtudásomat. Jelenleg folyamatosan tanulok a Duolingóval már 700 napja németül, spanyolul és oroszul, kombinálva ezeket a nyelveket az angollal és magyarral és egymással is, a létező összes módon, amit a Duolingo lehetővé tesz, beleértve a ,,fordított nyelvi-fákat” is.
Melyek a Duolingo angol-magyar nyelvtanfolyam témái?
Épp most jöttem rá, hogy ez a kurzus körülbelül a magyar-angol fa méretének a fele. Talán azért, mert ez egy béta verzió, amint azt a nyelvfa elején láthatjuk.

Um zu verstehen, was ein "Duolingo Umkehrbaum" ist, lasst uns zuerst mit dem Konzept des "Sprachen-Baums" vertraut werden.

Was ist ein "Sprachsbaum"?
Wenn ich bei Duolingo einen regulären Sprachsbaum mache, ist meine Muttersprache die Grundsprache. Die Zielsprache ist die Sprache, die ich lernen möchte: die Fremdsprache.
Wenn ich in Duolingo die Zielsprache setze, die ich als erste Sprache lernen möchte, und meine Muttersprache an die Stelle der Fremdsprache gestellt wird, sprechen wir von einem Umkehr-Sprachsbaum. Im Falle eines Umkehrbaumes scheint es, als ob ich ein Typ bin, der die Sprache, die er noch lernen möchte, als Muttersprachler hat und seine Muttersprache scheint die Zielsprache zu sein.
Okay, es klingt vielleicht schwierig, also werde ich es auf eine einfache Art und Weise sagen:
Wenn ich bei Duolingo einen Umkehrbaum mache, tausche ich die beiden Sprachen. Das ist es.Auch bin ich manchmal verwirrt, wenn ich gefragt werde, welchen Kurs ich mache. Ich antworte:
"... ähm ... Spanisch-Deutsch ... nein, Deutsch-Spanisch ... oh, ich bin verwirrt." LOL
Dies ist einer der Duolingo-Sprachsbäume, die ich fertiggestellt habe.
Was sind die Vorteile eines Umkehr-Duolingo-baums?
Ich kann die Vorteile der Fertigstellung eines Umkehrbaumes auf Duolingo in den folgenden Punkten summieren:
Es hilft die Zielsprache noch stärker zu machen.
Ich begegnete und lernte neue Wörter und Sätze, weil der Umkehrbaum nicht genau der gleiche wie der grundlegende ist.
Es gibt mir einen ganz neuen, anderen Einblick in die Zielsprache.
Es hilft die Wörter, Sätze und Grammatik wieder zu studieren oder zu studieren die erste mal, die ich bei meinem Grundkurs ganz vergessen oder überhaupt nicht gelernt habe.
Der Abschluss eines Duolingo-Kurses gibt mir ein Gefühl von Erfolg, ganz zu schweigen davon, in einer wundervollen neuen Sprache besser zu werden.
Studieren mit Duolingo ist völlig kostenlos. Keine Notwendigkeit Geld zu bezahlen, wie wenn ich zu einem Privatlehrer gehe. Es kostet viel, vertrau mir.
Du kannst es überall auf jedem Gerät machen, wenn du Internet hast. Du kannst auch Duolingo Plus für etwas Geld bekommen und auch offline lernen, wenn es dir besser passt.
Du kannst die Lücken in deinem Tag mit sinnvollen Aktivitäten füllen, wie wenn du pendelst, oder, na ja, du bist in einem langweiligen Job gesteckt und hast Zeit bei der Arbeit für deine privaten Sachen, wie mit Duolingo zu lernen. (In diesem Fall denke ich, dass du nicht die Menge an Geld verdienst, die du brauchst und nicht zufrieden bist, also solltest du auch erwägen, den Job zu wechseln, aber das ist ein ganz anderes Thema)
